The Belgium gaming commission has decided that purchasing in-game loot boxes is no different than gambling. (Reported by PCGamer).

And the reason behind this is because of the mix of money and addiction.

The Country’s minister, Koen Green says, “Mixing gambling and gaming, especially at a young age, is dangerous for the mental health of the child.”

This is interesting because EA was going to allow players to purchase loot in-game to give them an advantage in multiplayer sessions. Many gamers claimed that the government should regulate loot boxes because they are no different than slot machines and that drew the attention of the Belgium Gaming Commission.
